Better Day

So if you are following my blog, you know that the last couple of days have been really hard. I've just been struggling with several things in my life and feeling under-valued by my kids. Well, last night I came home to this

and dinner waiting on the table. Now, those of you who know my husband knows that he is a wonderful grill chef and cooks awesome dutch oven potatoes and fried potatoes. Other than that, he really doesn't like to cook. He can, but he doesn't want to. He prefers his grill over the stove and oven.

I was so shocked and grateful that I almost burst into tears right then and there. I asked what all of this was for and he said that he knew I needed it. I am so blessed with a husband that knows my moods and what I need. If ever there was a time I needed dinner fixed for me and flowers in his boot right inside the door (so it would be the first thing I would see), it was last night.

I know we have had our ups and downs - that's what happens when you are together since the age of 15, but I am so thankful we are still together. He completes me and makes me laugh when I am too serious and gives me a shoulder to cry on when I need it. I am grateful he is my Forever and Always!

  1. What cute pictures of you too and what a fabulous and nice thing for Kev to do for you. I can't tell you the last time I got flowers. Clint is pretty good to do dinner once in awhile but he is horrible at the clean up. You two have gone through a lot together it is so good that you have worked through it all and you have also gone through several different hair styles in your many years together-ha-love them all!

  2. Like Kristy I can't remember the last time Dad brought me flowers - he used to do it quite often, but I guess that grew old. And this year we will celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and he has never surprised me by making dinner. He knows there are several times a year that I DO NOT cook dinner and he will either cook or take me out, but a surprise dinner - you would have to pick me up off the floor! And if he did cook it would be peanut butter sandwiches. I honestly think the guy would starve or at the best eat very boring stuff if something happened to me and he had to cook all of the time. He keeps telling me that is why he married me, and I guess that's my fault because I cooked for him all of the time while we were dating.
