A long time ago, we started a tradition with Kevin's family of riding 4-wheelers and having a picnic out by Bluff the Saturday before Easter. Well, five years ago the BLM blocked off the area that we always went too, and we have just never found a new area. Well, this past summer, Calvin (Kevin's dad) found a new place that he wanted to start going to for Easter - Recapture Pockets. It's by Bluff and off the main road. There are tons of places to hike and great trails to ride the 4-wheelers on. Not as much shade as before, but still really nice.
So, even though Calvin was gone, we decided that we were going to go with Maquel and Lyle and Granny Blake. Granny made her awesome fried chicken and rolls for the picnic. As soon as we got there and got everything unloaded, a jet flew over us. Granny said that it was Calvin giving his approval and letting us know that he was there.
Dylan had to be the first one to hike to the top of the mountain/hill where we were.
Everyone watching to see if they made it to the top.
He made it to the top!
Setting everything up.

Kolar is usually good about mom taking pictures.
Then on Sunday after church we went to my parents' house. Kevin and the boys went up North for a doctor appointment with Granny, so it was just me and Dylan there along with everyone else's family and of course Maquel and Lyle. After a yummy dinner we went to hide the eggs. Dylan hid Lyle's in the weather vane on top of the shed and Maquel's in the tree. So Maquel and Lyle decided to hide Dylan's in the ground. Oh, sibling rivalry.
But, the most important thing to remember is the reason we have Easter. I am so grateful for my Savior and the sacrifices He made for me. I am nowhere near perfect and need the Atonement in my life everyday! I know that no matter how hard my life is, it is not nearly as hard as what my Savior went through for all of us. How grateful I am for that knowledge and for a loving Heavenly Father who allowed His son to make those sacrifices. It would have been sooo extremely hard to watch one of your children go through that.
The greatest blessings in my life are my family. So thankful to be a mother, wife, daughter, sister. And most importantly, I am so glad to have the knowledge that my family is forever!
